By registering for the Reclaiming Our Spirituality 12 Week Workshop, I acknowledge that I have been informed of the following and consent to participate in the religious trauma processing group meeting on Zoom Tuesday evenings January 6 through March 24, 2026:

• This group offers a basic framework for understanding spiritual harm and religious trauma and provides various tools for processing memories and experiences. This group does not have an agenda, other than acknowledging that spiritual harm and religious trauma are real; and the group space is designed to be a place where people can safely process their stories individually or collectively based on each person’s needs and comfort level.
• This is not a therapy group and yet tough things may come up that cannot be fully processed in the group space. Participants are encouraged to focus during group on experiences and stories that are not on the extreme end, since the process of reflection and engaging with various tools and other participants can make it easier to apply the same resources to tougher stories and experiences. Anyone who finds that what the group offers is not sufficient for their current needs will be encouraged to connect to additional resources.
• Jody Washburn, the facilitator of the group, is not a licensed therapist, but she has training in both psychology and theology and brings a passion for creating spaces where people can cultivate the capacity to approach their own stories and the stories of others with care and curiosity.
• Group participants are asked to respect confidentiality and not share what they hear in group with anyone outside the group or even with people within the group in outside contexts where other people are present. For participants, confidentiality can be requested but everyone should be aware that it cannot be strictly guaranteed. The group facilitator is committed to confidentiality, with the only exceptions being if someone is in danger of harming themselves or someone else. Nevertheless, anytime participants share, both in small breakout room conversations and with the larger group, they should keep in mind that confidentiality among group members can be encouraged but not guaranteed.
